Atlanta Police Report Burglary Increase in Buckhead

While the holiday season is a notorious time for burglaries around the country, Atlanta area police are reporting an increase in these crimes in the neighborhood of Buckhead. Comprising about one-fifth of the northern part of the city, the area has made strides in recent years to establish a residential character and eliminate the nightclubs that were once a common fixture on city streets.

However, according to a December 10 report by WSBTV Atlanta, despite these efforts, police patrols in the area are increasing after the recent string of break-ins that occurred earlier in the month.

The source says that thieves have lifted expensive jewelry, silverware and lawn equipment from local homes and that there has been six to seven reported incidents. Meanwhile, while police say they are still trying to determine if the events were connected, local residents are left looking for ways to bolster their home protection.

“It makes me feel uncomfortable,” resident Judy Hardin told the TV news source. “I don’t know where to start as far as who to contact about police protection except to ask the City of Atlanta to have more patrols throughout our neighborhood.”

But, while incidents like this can shake a community to the core, residents don’t simply have to rely on police to protect themselves. By investing in a residential alarm system that can better protect their family, Buckhead homeowners and apartment renters can best secure their valuables.
