Robbery of Hank Aaron Home Shows the Importance of Home Security System

Many residents don’t feel the need to call an Atlanta alarm company to discuss their home security options because they believe their neighborhood is safe and free of any suspicious individuals. However, even the safest areas can be the target of robbers and burglars if they believe a home to be unoccupied and unprotected.

Hank Aaron, the Hall of Fame baseball player who played for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves from the 1950s to 1970s, was recently the victim of a burglary at his Atlanta home. He and his wife Billye were away when robbers broke in and stole jewelry and automobiles, including two BMWs, on July 19.

Police stated the intruders had done some damage to the house, including broken windows and cut wires.

“On the side of the residence, the electrical panels were on the ground and the wires were cut inside the box,” said a police report obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The generator was on due to the electrical wires being cut.”

Aaron received a call from his residential burglar alarm system, but missed it and was unable to report the crime until the next morning. One of the BMWs was found July 22.

Families can never be too prepared for incidents such as this one. That is why it is essential for Atlanta homeowners to consider investing in a proper home security system with motion detectors and smartphone integration, so that they can better monitor the situation at their house.
