Good Neighbors Foil Television Robbery in East Atlanta

On December 11, East Patch Atlanta reported that four men broke into a Stokeswood Avenue home in an attempted robbery that was foiled in part by the efforts of good neighbors.

According to the report, the men were in the process of stealing a television from an Atlanta home, when the neighbors, who weren’t identified in the story, heard the noise and sprang into action. Police later responded to an alarm call at around 1:15 p.m., but as of yet, it is unclear if the culprits have been brought to justice.

Atlanta Police Department and DeKalb County officials did tell the local Patch outlet that they were able to obtain fingerprints from the dropped television, however, giving them a potential lead in the case. It was also reported that some of the suspects fled in a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu after departing from the crime scene.

What is clear about the case, though, is that not everyone can rely on their neighbors to prevent break-ins. While this story shows how everyday citizens can rise to the occasion, apartment renters and homeowners need to take precautions of their own.

One way to do so is to invest in a residential alarm system from a trusted company that can provide security system installation and monitoring. If you’re an Atlanta homeowner who wants to better protect your home and family in the new year, call American Alarm today.
